Vision: Positive Lifestyles...Healthy Community.
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition (TPPC)
The TPPC strives to create a conglomerate of professionals who are passionate and dedicated to teenage reproductive education in an effort to encourage adolescents to postpone the onset of sexual activity, encourage safe sex practices and reduce the teen pregnancy rate of McLennan County and the surrounding areas. The purpose is not to infringe upon existing community programs, but rather to collaborate to make a greater impact.
Donating Housing Program
Your "home sweet home" can be a "home away from home" for a health career student. Health practitioner students who study in your community need a place to call home. Your home could be that home for one of these students. The students come to your community to study under the direction of practicing health professionals. During their stay, students need a safe, comfortable place to live. If you have a spare bedroom with bathroom and kitchen access, garage apartment, mobile home, or other spare housing arrangements that you can donate, you can help. The students take care of their own living expenses, transportation, and insurance coverage. Student rotations vary in length from four to eight weeks. Experience has shown that hosting a student can be a rewarding experience for both the student and the host. Friendships develop, and helping a student makes a valuable contribution to your community, ultimately providing a positive community experience that encourages students to relocate and practice in our local communities.
